A view of the climbing centre. The design responds strongly to the topography of its location, and the scheme is imbued with the idea of adventure, of climbing up and looking down. The wall is at the centre of the design, and is set against the adjoining chapel. The accommodation – activity rooms, changing, gym, offices, accommodation and cafe – wrap around and look onto it , leaving a void at the centre of the building. The roofscape responds to the town while also marking the building out, and the exterior public spaces are carefully curated.
