Sometimes I am receptive: these are times for taking in ideas, exploration, discovery, for going out into new realms of thought and creativity. Nothing falls together, no ideas synthesise, everything is disparate and overwhelming. The connections are everywhere, so many as to be meaningless. I am lost but intrigued.
And sometimes I am productive: times for pulling thoughts together, for opinions and arguments, for navigating confidently between stances. Everything is clear, malleable, mapped. Links are formed in clear strands, with order and hierarchy. I make my way towards answers.
This is necessary – this cycle of reception and production. Ideas must be taken in and turned over before they can be held meaningfully. It’s all part of the process.
